The votes have been counted and re-counted. It is official: Daniel Negreanu has defeated Annette “Annette_15″ and will be awarded a permanent spot in our Poker Babe Players gallery, as of 1 October 2008. The Canadian superstar will be featured alongside other babes like Shannon Elizabeth, Tiffany MIchelle and Tila Tequila. Congratulations, Daniel. It is now safe to come out of the closet.

Jeez, how about this table? It’s the 10K event and we’re three hours into the tournament. The following players are seated at the same table: Annette Obrestad, Dario Manieri, Isabelle Mercier, Chris Vaughn, Soren Kongsgaard Mike Sowers and a few others. What’s interesting? Well, here are a few facts:

1. Dario and Isabelle are “a couple”. Well, we’re not sure if they still are, but they’ve been seen all over each other at the WSOP earlier this year. We watched the action for a few hours and the screenshot below was the ONLY time when Dario raised Isabelle’s blind. And it was just a small blind!!! Softplaying?
2. Slippyjacks and Kongsgaard have a history. Chris “Slippyjacks” Vaughn had an amazing week in October 2007, when he won both the Full Tilt 750K Guaranteed AND the Sunday Million. However, he was later banned from Full Tilt, when it was discovered he let another player finish the tournament for him.
3. That other player was Sorel “Impir1um” Mizzi, who was also banned. Sorel is now the “face” of the tiny pokerroom Betfair Poker, alongside….Annette Obrestad. That’s just too much inbreed for us. We’re not watching this event anymore!
4. Well ok, we are. Isabelle slowrolled Annette_15 and knocked her out. Then Dario defended her move after she got violated in the chat for her actions. Dario lost his cool and tilted away his decent stack, after eliminating Annette (still following this?)

Who was violating her? Well, that would be our Poker Babe Nominee Annette Obrestad:

That’s true love…now we’re really not watching anymore…deep deep sigh. Softplaying, slowrolling, and acting like a 11-year old, all on 1 table.

Annette has obvioulsy been taking a vacation: she hasn’t been spotted at Pokerstars for over a month. We all know it is her favorite poker room, even though she’s contracted by Betfair Poker, in a desperate attempt to attract more clients to their site. Sure, she plays there and has even won a few tourneys, but really, Pokerstars is her home base.
Last Sunday she reached the final table of the Sunday Warmup outlasting 3000 players. She finished 6th, taking home $30,000. Welcome back, Annette. At 9 september we’ll announce who will be added to our Babes In Poker Players category. Could it really be Annette? We can reveal right now it’s gonna be close. Her closest competitor? Daniel Negreanu… Good luck u2!

Scooooooop! Bodog’s Poker Babe Evelyn Ng is dating Dutch poker pro Lex “RaSZi” Veldhuis. On his blog, RaSZi writes: “The best thing about Vegas was definitely ‘meeting’ my new girlfriend, Evelyn Ng. We already met two years ago in Vegas and got along great, but nothing specific. The past year we have been talking a lot online and we have a lot of things in common. I went to hang out at the charity barbecues for Phil Ivey’s charity foundation, where Evelyn organized a Guitar Hero tournament for charity. In the week after we saw each other daily and we’re going out since then. I actually stayed in Vegas for 2 extra weeks. So i came back from Vegas a winner in the end;)”
Coming from the Starcraft-world, RaSZi multi-tables the mid/high stakes NL games on Stars. He writes strategy articles for Pokernews and will be one of the instructors for their new video-strategy-site. One of his famous accomplishments was turning $200 into $+100K in a single session on Full Tilt Poker, playing mostly heads-up cash games. Now he’s heads-up with Evelyn Ng. Nh, sir.

Nope, this is not about the EPT Best Newcomer Nominees. Annette will probably win that award, beating Trond Erik Eidsvig, Jason Mercier, Denes Kalo and Mike McDonald. The nominees were announced yesterday and the winner will be picked September 9th in Barcelona at the EPT Awards.

Yesterday, GSN aired the next to last appearance of the beautiful Layla Kayleigh and Kimberly Lansing on the World Poker Tour Ladies Championship. It was Vanessa Selbst who defeated Erica Schoenberg heads-up, but all the attention went to Layla and Kimberly for sure.
Layla Kayleigh was asked to be WPT’s hostess for another season, but she turned down the offer, saying she doesn’t want to travel that much and wants to focus more on her health and personal relationships. You go girl! Sabina Gadecki, Courtney Friel and Shana Hiatt were Layla’s pre-successors.
Kimberly Lansing is WPT’s online hostess, and now takes over the whole show. Thank god.

While browsing the 2+2 forums I came across a thread which mentioned something about Hevad Khan getting into a fight. I was busy at the time and later returned to 2+2 and could not find the post anywhere. Apparently it  had been deleted, which I discovered after stumbling across this thead on the Poker Prop forums.

The person in this video is obviously not PokerStars’ sponsored Hevad Khan, but it looked enough like him in made for a good gag post. Apparently a mod at 2+2 did not find the humor.

Jim pointed out that this could potentially be a FAUX news hoax because the guy who gets the best beating (watch 1:17 mark in the video a few times) certainly resembles Sam Farha.

If by some slim chance this was RaINkAhn; players should probably take his next rabid howler monkey dance at the poker table a bit more seriously.
